It has been long known that files are not the same as product files.

They need to be taken care of so they not only bring the desired outcomes, but first and foremost so they can make an efficient use of any advertising format.

To this end, online shops use their best endeavours to constantly improve their offer. It has to be remembered, however, that a perfectly optimized shop is not enough. Web users need to be prompted about its existence in order to reach it. How? Through Google AdWords, Google Shopping, price comparison websites, Facebook ads, newsletters, etc. Product feed facilitates multi-channel campaigns.

How does an open source Prestashop platform handle the product file?

As each open and free solution, Prestashop has its huge and loyal fans. They have grown into a considerable society knowingly developing their platform and rendering it a perfect engine for efficient sale. As far as product files are concerned, we have a number of solutions to offer. Some of them deserve particular attention:

  • PriceWars – by and large it is a free solution. Written by a Polish provider, the module supports product export to a CSV file in a very simple way. The free version offers a possibility of exporting file data to accommodate the Ceneo, Nokaut, Sklepy24 or Skąpiec format. The key functionality of the light version is also quite interesting and offers considerable options. Among other things, we can block specific products from being exported or, for example, advance export management options governing the warehouse balances. The full (paid) version allows adapting the files to the Google Merchant, Arena or Facebook formats.
  • Advanced CSV Export –An advanced modulewhich is quite easy to use. Its possibilities enable exporting not only products but also orders, categories, suppliers, manufacturers and bulletins into the CSV format. Its advantage is a possibility of recording and storing the exported files so there is no need to prepare the file for re-exporting. With just one click you can also exclude the products which are not available or which are not active at the moment.

  • Orders (CSV, Excel) Export – it is a versatile tool for exporting a product catalogue. It enables both manual as well as automatic CSV file generation regardless of the size of the product database. Using a CSV,it is not only possible to perfectly design an advertising campaign but also to manage the product balance or update prices in a much simpler and easier way. Although you can export the files manually, one great advantage of this module is a possibility of configurating the automatic export at regular intervals. All you do is to set the date and time. The file is sent by email or is stored in a specified place on the server.
  • XML Feeds Pro –It is quite a flexible tool which enables exporting large databases. An interesting solution is a possibility of protective sensitive data – you only choose a password. By default, it is compatible with Google Shopping, and Facebook ads. But you can intervene with the file and modify it for other portals.

Of course, it is but one of the plug-ins whose operation has proven to be useful. They can be used for the generation of a CSV or XML files. The modules are slightly different. Some of them will make a better use of one shop, others of another. Therefore, it is worthwhile choosing a module which will best serve the needs of your ecommerce.
